The Challenge of Building in Alaska

Building telecom infrastructure in Alaska isn’t like building anywhere else. Harsh weather, remote locations, and challenging logistics make every project high-risk without the right team.

Too many contractors overpromise and underdeliver—missing deadlines, mismanaging crews, and blowing budgets. For rural broadband and large-scale telecom projects, one misstep can delay service for entire communities.

All Directions Telecom was built to handle exactly these challenges. With over 35 years in Alaskan telecom construction, we bring deep regional knowledge, proven logistics, and a hands-on approach to every job. When we say we’ll get it done—you can count on it.

A Lifetime in Alaskan Telecom

With over 35 years in the trenches of Alaskan telecom construction, Alan McHone doesn’t just run the business—he’s worked every crew position in it.

Alan started his career as an apprentice lineman in the IBEW and rose through the ranks to foreman, project manager, and eventually regional director overseeing multimillion-dollar fiber installations across Alaska. He’s led crews through some of the state’s most challenging environments, bringing broadband to communities from Dutch Harbor to the Dalton Highway. Known for his hands-on leadership and no-nonsense approach, Alan founded All Directions Telecom to do the job right: with grit, precision, and a deep respect for the land and the people who live on it.
